Cyanobacteria, as a rich source of bioactive compounds, has been potentially considered for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. In the present study, isolation and identification of Chroococcus turgidus were performed from the south of Lake Urmia. The crude metabolites were extracted from Ch. turgidus biomass according to the soxhlet method using methanol. The methanol extract (ME) were concentrated in a rotary evaporator, followed by removing the traces of solvent with the desiccator. The disk diffusion and broth microdilution methods were used to determine the antimicrobial effects and the minimum inhibitory concentration, respectively. According to the inhibition zone, the ME showed a significant effect on the Enterobacteriaceae family, which are commonly involved in different gastrointestinal infections. In conclusion, the Ch. turgidus extract can introduce various compounds as suitable candidates for developing new antimicrobial agentsکلیدواژه ها
