چکیده

Bone mineral density reduction is a problem that can lead to osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is now recognized as an important public health problem in middle-aged men. Activity can be effective on the prevention of osteoporosis by some mechanisms such as changing in anthropometrics variables. The aim of this study was evaluation of relationship between body mass index and lumbar bone mineral density in active middle-aged men. Fifty-five active middle-aged men with an average age of ۵۰ to ۶۵ years with medical records and clinical trials were selected at Milad Hospital in Tehran. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to find the relationship between body mass index and lumbar bone mineral density. SPSS software version ۲۶ was used for data analysis. We found that BMI may causally increase lumbar BMD (P = ۰.۰۰۶). The associations of BMI with L۱ and L۲ BMD were not statistically significant. Our study suggested that higher BMI plays a causal role in increasing lumbar BMD. Considering this issue, it can be said that one of the applications of the results of the present study is to use the value of this indicator in predicting the bone density of individuals.
