چکیده

Osteomas are uncommon benign tumours of bone. Osteomas infrequently reported to occur in avians. The diagnosis is made after considering physical examination, radiographic and histologic findings. Treatment for osteoma is simple surgical excision, which is usually curative. A 1.5 -year-old, male lovebird (Agapornis personata) was presented In September 2018 at the Pet clinic in Mashhad. The lovebird had been brought to the clinic for the first time, so no previous medical history was available.From the owner was asked about the symptoms and according to the answers, it was found that the lovebird was lethargic at home and poor feathering. An oval mass on the left wing had been seen for several months. Examination of the wing revealed that the soft tissue in the zone of radius and ulna bones of the left wing was swollen and quite firm in the touch. The oval mass was firm, well circumscribed, and measured approximately 8×6×3.5 mm. The mass was covered with an ulcerative. Differential diagnosis was considered for this case: metastatic neoplasia, benign neoplasia, granuloma, abscess and cyst. Radiographic evaluation of the bird showed a regularly ovoid, radio - opaque mass in the forearm region The bird was euthanatized upon the owner’s request. Histopathological dermal examination revealed a nonneoplastic process of mesenchymal origin, characterized by the formation of well-differentiated trabecular bone, multiple areas of medullary bone and loose connective tissue and coagulation of the necrosis foci.Based on clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic findings, the mass was diagnosed as extraskeletal osteoma
