To evaluate the agronomic characteristics of 20 safflower genotypes, a field experiment was conducted based on randomized complete block design with three replications under rainfed conditions in fall planting at the Sararood-Kermanshah, Shirvan- Khorasan and Sarab changahi - Khoramabad stations during 2009-2010. Simple analyses of variance in all locations were done for agronomic traits seperately. Combined analysis of variance was performed assuming genotype effect as fixed, locations effect as random factor. The results of combined analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences (P<0.01) among location and interaction effects for seed yield. The highest seed yield was belong to genotype no. 3 (1018 Kg/ha) and Sina variety (1014 kg/ha). Seed yield in Sarab changahi - Khoramabad was more than those in other locations. Seed yield was significantly positively correlated with seed per head (P< 0.05) in Sararood-Kermanshah, and seed per head (P< 0.01) and seed weight (P< 0.05) in Sarab changahi - Khoramabad. These correlations were not significant in Shirvan- Khorasan station. Yield stability analysis was done for safflower genotypes by yield-stability statistic ( Ysi ), and GGL biplot method. Using yield-stability statistic (Ysi ) indicated that genotypes no. 19, 1, 3, 5, 4, 9, 17, 2, 6 and 12 were both high yielding and stable. Simultaneous selection for yield and stability using GGE distance ( i GGED ) indicated that genotype no. 3 (PI- 250202) was the most desirable genotype across locations.
