چکیده مقاله:
Calcium dobesilate CaD reduces the vascular permeability in diabetic retinopathy. CaD has a wide range of pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. In the current study, the neuroprotective properties of CaD in aging mice induced by D-galactose D-Gal were assessed. For this purpose, we used twenty-eight male mice. CaD 50 and 100 mg/kg/p.o. , was administrated daily in D-gal-treated 500 mg/kg/p.o. mice for six weeks. Different behavioral tests were examined after drug administration. The brain activities of superoxide dismutase SOD , glutathione peroxidase GPx were determined. To determine the brain damage, histopathological alterations in hippocampus were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin H&E staining. Our results indicated that behavioral changes in animals under study can be attenuated by CaD. We also found that CaD increased the SOD and GPx in aging mice brain. Moreover, histopathological evaluations of the brain confirmed these results. These data provide novel insights that CaD has protective effects on behavioral manifestation in aging model mice through ameliorative effects on oxidative stress parameters
