چکیده مقاله:

Background: Pedestrians are one of the victims of traffic accidents all over the world, victims of which vary in number and extent according to countries traffic policies. For example, the numbers in a research paper published in Year 1396 are as follows: Pedestrian deaths in European and American countries are about 20%, African 43% and Middle East 51%. During the first seven months of the year 1398, 2 thousand pedestrians were killed in an accident; more than 10 people were killed daily. This is a statistic recently released by the National Forensics Organization, which shows that pedestrian-related fatalities accounted for about one-fifth (19.8 percent) of all fatalities during that period, a growth rate that has grown in the past. It shows that just as the number of fatalities of all types of accidents in our country, compared to the same period last year, increased by 2.1%. In this article, we seek to identify the social factors that affect pedestrian accidents from the perspective of Shiraz citizens. Methods: The method used in this research is field method and survey technique. The research tool is a researcher-made questionnaire that was completed by the respondents. The statistical population of the study is all residents over 18 years old in Shiraz city. According to the available logistic facilities, 140 of them were randomly selected and studied. Face validity was used to validate items and Cronbach s alpha was used to assess reliability. Results: The descriptive findings showed that the mean age of the respondents was 38 years and its standard deviation was 3 years. The highest frequency of education is among diploma respondents and more than 58% of respondents are male. The inferential findings of the study showed that there is a significant relationship between education level, socioeconomic status, legislation and pedestrian accidents. Conclusion: Given the crucial impact that cultural factors have on driving laws, it is important to educate on driving laws through socialization resources, including schools and the media.
