Pregnant woman with hydatid cysts should really be terminated pregnancy!

Background and Aim : Hydatid cyst disease is a parasitic disease infection, rare and life-threateningcondition for mother /fetus (1). Its diagnosis during pregnancy is usually performed by serological testingand ultrasonography. Clinical manifestations of the disease depend on the size and location of the cysts.Treatment modalities are surgery and drug therapy. Surgery is the choice treatment for complicated hidatidcyst but replace rate can very widely. Medical treatment with albendazole is used for no pregnant andasymptomatic patients, which may take several years. The goal of case presentation is toanswer the following question: Is the pregnancy termination necessary before surgery What is the bestmanagement for pregnant patient with hydatid cyst Methods : A 26-years-old nulligravida woman is known case of liver and lung hydatid cysts that wasunwittingly pregnant came to us. During the pregnancy, the patient was monitored for signs of illness. Shesuffered from severe and frequent coughing. In the first two months of pregnancy, due to lung large cystrupture to left upper lobe bronchus and an increase in liver cysts size, she was recommended that herpregnancy must be aborted before surgery.Results : After abortion, she was simultaneously treated with thoracotomy and laparotomy and the cystswere evacuated and treated with albendazole and currently she has no signs or symptoms during severalmonths.Conclusion : All studies and WHO Staging did not recommend termination of pregnancy for hydatid cyststreatment. What signs/ symptoms or stages of the disease are indications for early termination of pregnancy Surgery may cure the patient but widely replace rate is a problem in reproductive age. Really terminationmust be done in pregnant woman with hidatid cyst. What is your idea about the treatment and managementof a pregnant patient with hydatid cysts
