چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Violence against women is more than 50% in Iranian society andworldwide.Although the relationship between domestic violence and women s chronic and debilitativediseases has been known,so far, no review study which identifies the relationship between domesticviolence and cervical cancer has not been done; so, this study was performed with aim to identifying theassociation between violence against women and pre-invasive and invasive cervical lesionsMethods : In this reviewstudy, the English and Persian articles were searched from1990 to 2015 using thekeywords of cervical cancer and domestic violence in the international databases of Pubmed,ScienceDirect, and Google scholar, SID,Magiran, and IranMedex. After reviewing the article, 16 related studieswere critically evaluatedResults : Probability of complication with low-grade and high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions haddirectly correlated with duration of time which the women suffer the domestic violence (P<0.05). Womenwith experience of three types of violence (physical, sexual and psychological) had the higher rate ofcomplication with cervical cancer. Women with experience of violence had not referred for Pap smeartestuntil premenopausal period, which led to delayeddiagnosisof cervical cancer. Conclusion : Domestic violence haspositive correlation with risk of squamous intraepithelial lesionsmorbidity, cervical cancer, and frequency of referring for Pap smear test. So, through awareness of healthcare managers and personnel of this association, a step can be performed for appropriate planning andmeasurement to screen and determine the women suffering domestic violence.
