چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : The outcome of exogenous progesterone on fetal nuchal translucency (NT) hasbeen proposed recently. we aimed to evaluate the width of NT of fetuses in mothers with and withoutgetting progesterone in first trimester and evaluate the relationship between fetal nuchal translucency andprogesterone supportMethods : Our study was a case control comparative retrospective study. 220 pregnant women wereincluded in this study. 110 women treated with progesterone at least until 12 weeks constituted the studygroup between 2016 and 2018 , accordingly delivered well babies. and another 110 women who were notreceived progesterone composed the control group. Nuchal translucency ultrasonography screening wasdone on all of cases at 11 to 13weeks and 6days to evaluate NT. All patients in the study group were treatedwith intravaginal progesterone 200mg dosage. The major parameters detected for all cases were; gestationalage at NT scan , maternal age, (BMI), and period of progesterone therapy. Results : From 220 cases in this study The median NT thickness in the study group was higher significant, and was statistically valuable. According to the maternal age, gestational age and BMI statisticallysignificant difference between groups were detected .In addition there was a direct relationship among NTthickness and treatment length .Conclusion : Fetal NT was thicker in group that supported with progesterone compared with the controlgroup. As well progesterone therapy may increase NT with no causing odd prenatal screening testconsequences. Of course ,These information require to be established by more detailed and largerprospective studies , so may be reflected in prenatal screening tests in future.
