THE EFFECTIVENESS OF GROUP SPIRITUAL THERAPY ON REDUCING THE SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY AND ACADEMIC FAILURE IN CHILDREN WITH POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER DUE TO EMERGENCY ACCIDENT

Background and Aim : Post-traumatic stress disorder is one of the most common disorders inchildren that causes them a great deal of pain and suffering which leads to academic failure anddecreased concentration. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of groupspirituality therapy on reducing anxiety symptoms and academic failure in children with posttraumaticstress disorder (IDU) referred to emergency department of Taleghani hospital inKermanshah.Methods : The purpose of this study was to determine the purpose of the study and the targetpopulation of the study included 10 to 12 year old children. Sampling was made available to 20experimental and 20 control groups with a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 14 weeks nonfatalaccident. Child and adolescent anxiety questionnaire (5-YAM) was used to measure. Grouptherapy sessions lasted 2 times a week and each session lasted 1 hour for 10 weeks. Inferentia lstatistics, Pearson correlation, independent t-test and independent t-test were used for data analysis.Results : According to the analysis of pre-test and post-test data and comparing with the controlgroup, there was a positive and significant correlation between the level of anxiety with theimplementation of group spirituality therapy. Comparing the performance of two groups of malesand females, the results showed that females performed better than males.Conclusion : Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children is more complex than in adultsbecause children s perceptions of the environment and situations differ from those of adults. Ifpsychiatric disorders are not diagnosed and treated in a timely manner, they will worsen and havea detrimental effect on the future and adulthood. For the treatment of this mental disorder, groupspirituality therapy can be a special way to speed up the child s healing process.
