Background and purpose: Artemisia annua belongs to the plant family of Asteraceae and is an annual short-day plant.Artemisia annua distribution Widespread in forested areas of northern Iran. In this study, antioxidant properties, total Phenolic, flavonoid compounds of aqueous extract were investigated.Materials and methods: Extraction was done by maceration method. Total amount of phenolic and flavonoid compounds of the extract was determined by spectrophotometric method. Anti-Radical Activity of Extract by DPPH Free Radical Coupling Test and Frequency Antioxidant-Reducing Activity (FRAP) Evaluation.The collected data were analyzed using Excel software.Results: The extract had higher total phenolic content than total flavonoid content. The aqueous extract showed moderate DPPH radical effect.Conclusion: The results of this study showed that Artemisia annua as a rich and potential source of biocomponents.It is an active antioxidant used in the food and drug industry to maintain human health.
