Evaluation of Terminalia catappa hydro alcoholic extract on function, oxidative stress and histopathological alteration in rat

چکیده
Objective: Studies have shown the therapeutic effects of Terminalia catappa but limited studies have shown toxicity effect.Aims: In this study, the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of Terminalia catappa. On different tissues of male rats was investigated.Methods: Fourteen rats were divided into two case and control groups: the first group received 400 mg/kg hydro alcoholic extract of Terminalia catappa leaves and the second group received 0.5 ml/100gr normal saline orally for 14 days. At the end of study, liver and renal function test, cardiac biomarker, pancreatic test and oxidative stress biomarkers were evaluated. In addition, liver, kidney, brain, lung, heart and pancreas tissues were histopathologically examined.Results: At the end of study weight increased in both group significantly (P < 0.05). The CK-MB and AST enzymes were significantly decreased in the first group (P < 0.05). Other parameters were not significant between the two groups (P> 0.05).Conclusion: The results of this studies shows Terminalia catappa may protect vital organs in oxidative stress due to flavonoids and tannins compounds.کلیدواژه ها
