چکیده
Introduction: Sudden loss of consciousness in a child may have dangerous causes, including infections, metabolic disorders, trauma and poisoning that require quick, accurate and scientific evaluation.Case presentation: Herein, we introduce a three-year-old boy who was first referred to Emergency ward of Mashhad Imam Reza Hospital due to loss of consciousness. He had traveled to Mashhad with his family and lost his consciousness after some days staying in a hotel. During evaluations, hypotension and severe metabolic acidosis with high anion gap was observed. Finally, we found that the cause of symptoms was poisoning with ethylene glycol.Conclusion: In each child with loss of consciousness, poisoning should be considered as one of the most likely diagnoses. Identifying the clinical symptoms and use of appropriate diagnostic algorithms is essential for timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment of specific cases of toxicity.کلیدواژه ها
