A review on role of Aloe Vera in wound healing

چکیده
This review focus on the bioactive constituent of Aloe vera that promotes wound healing process. Traditional medicine is one of the oldest procedures in countries like Iran.Aloe Vera is an excellent herbaceous remedy widely used for biomedical applications especially for topical wound healing such as minor burns, cuts, and sunburns. Therefore the goal of this study was isolation the active ingredients that help wound healing. It is also reported that it contains constituents not only speeds up healing wounds but also prevents injured surface from getting scar and also decreased scar tissue size and providing a more mature granulation tissue. Acemannan, is the major polysaccharide found in the gel of internal aloe vera leaf, can significantly accelerate wound closure and fibroblast proliferation, tissue re-epithelization, and angiogenesis in mice. This polysaccharide can increase fibroblast proliferation and the release of keratinocyte growth factor-1 (KGF-1), vascular endothelial growth factor, and the synthesis of type I collagen.Another compound that the regenerative properties are due to it is glucomannan, which is rich with polysaccharides like mannose. Glucomannan affects fibroblast growth factor receptors and stimulates their activity and proliferation, which in turn increases the production of collagen. To identify all published studies for aloe vera, the effect on wound healing, bioactive compounds and isolate we searched SID, IRANDOC, Google Scholar, PubMed and MEDLINE.If Acemannan and Glucomannan could be isolated from Aloe vera leaf gel as the biologically active constituent, it would be very effective in treating wounds and burns.The results of this study between several articles that met the inclusion criteria were studied showed that Aloe vera has been used to treating wounds, burns and prevention of scar And the mechanism of the Acemannan and glucomannan were examined. Due to the pharmacological properties of Aloe vera and its bioactive constituent, it can be used to improve wound healing and promote the health of society.کلیدواژه ها
