Software Developmentt Effort Estimation: A challenge classification

Software Development Effort Estimation is the process of predicting the most accurate amount of time, cost and effort required in software development based on abstract, uncertain and noisy data. Moreover, Effort estimation is an empirical study which means data and the experts’ decisions have critical roles in the process of estimation. Since the overall process of development is based on vague factors, the estimation models suffer from multiple challenges. A weak model over or underestimates the effort which can result in unnecessary costs and in more severe cases, project failure. One of the most debatable challenges in this paper is the effect of technology in adding a modern approach of estimation rather than previous traditional ones. Although these challenges may vary in each project, they are classifiable which construct the main goal of this study.
