چکیده

Background and Aim : Introduction: Intravenous drug addiction is one of the most important risk factors for hepatitis and HIV transmission. Expanding the phenomenon of drug use has led to many costs for society due to the loss of productive power, the transmission of infectious diseases, increased crime and the imposition of excessive burden on healthMethods : : A descriptive study was conducted in which all 827 drug addicts were covered by drug use centers in Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences. The instrument was a demographic questionnaire and a list of drop-out centers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statisticsResults : : The findings showed that 827 injectable drug users were covered in drug abuse centers. The prevalence of infection with the AIDS virus (12%), the majority of which was infected by common infusion. Other findings showed that the majority of addicts in the men s group (90%), the level of secondary education (80%), single (77%), the history of imprisonment (87%), in the age group of 24-24 years old (83%) have been. And (30%) of subjects underwent continuous treatment with methadoneConclusion : : The results indicate that the transmission of virus from this high-risk group to the general population can be problematic. Meanwhile, this program can be used to reduce the negative health, social and economic consequences of drug use among addicts
