REVIEW OF THE EFFECT DRUG PREVENTION TRAINING ON MEDICAL STUDENTS

Background and Aim : Drug addiction and drug abuse is one of the most important social, health and psychological challenges of the world today, and has been attacking the human community as the most important social damage. Adolescence and youth are the most dangerous life-span in terms of drug use. Education is one of the most important ways of preventing addiction, especially for medical students who are more familiar with their materials and their effects. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of drug abuse prevention training in medical students.Methods : In this study, valid scientific articles were indexed in ISI, PubMed, Scopus, Sid, Magiran databases using key words (education, addiction tendency, students). The range of time from 2012 to 2018 was considered for the selection of papers. The articles were found in 80 articles, of which 46 papers were included in the study, and then these articles were evaluated in terms of title, abstract and full text. After removing repetitive and unrelated, 34 articles related to research were selected.Results : According to the study, in order to prevent addiction in students, it should be based on 4 core education, which include confirmation of quality of life rather than addiction and social harm, designing interventions with student participation and intergenerational collaboration and paying attention to differences. The Studies also showed that the mean of attitude (from 26.3 ± 17.4 to 45.7 ± 21.6) and the preventive behavior of addiction (from 24.11 ± 9.5 to 40.6 ± 13.7) after Training significantly improved.Conclusion : Drug prevention training in students has been effective. Considering the high prevalence of addiction in the country and the importance of preventing high-risk behaviors in educational centers, the use of educational techniques to prevent drug abuse and drug abuse is recommended to relevant authorities at universities and other relevant institutions.
