Background and Aim : Addiction in pregnancy has serious consequences for mother and infant. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the prevalence of addiction in pregnant women so that it can be planned to prevent the addictioncomplications of mother and infant, thus causing complications to Minimized. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the relative frequency of substance abuse in pregnant women in IsfahanMethods : In this cross-sectional study, 400 pregnant women hospitalized in Al-Zahra, Shahid Beheshti, Amin and Shariati hospitals were sampled of urineand sent to the laboratory to examine the presence of cannabis, morphine, amphetamine and methamphetamine. Demographic data was collected by researcher-made questionnaireResults : In this study, 400 pregnant women with an average age of 30.2 years were enrolled. Average gravidity in mothers was 2.44 times. Subjects were divided into two groups according to the history of drug use. Significant differences were found between groups based on the job, smoking, husband s addiction, addict s familial relation, family use, and positive screening test (P <0.05). In general, smoking, wives addiction and positive urine test in group with history of drug use were significantly higher than those without previous historyConclusion : Considering the administrative test in pregnant women, the history of drug use can prevent substance abuse in them and consequently prevent maternal and fetal complications
