چکیده مقاله:

IntroductionMarital conflicts which is defined as incompatibilities, antipathies, and lack of agreement between the spouses, can have adverse consequences for a family, the results of which can be observed in the debilitation of marital relationships. From among the elements negatively influenced by such conflicts, is sexual function and satisfaction in the marital relationship. The present review article aims to investigate the correlation between marital conflicts and sexual function and satisfaction between spouses.MethodologyThe present review article, investigated published articles from 2000 to 2018 using the key words sexual satisfaction, sexual function, and marital conflicts, in international databases of PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Sid, and Scopus.FindingsLack of satisfying sexual needs can be considered as a dangerous factor leading to psychological aggression of husbands towards their wives. In this regard, sexual satisfaction is influenced by many factors, among which we can refer to conflicts between the spouses. Neglecting the sexual needs of one another, which is related to cold-humouredness of an individual, can cause anger and listlessness among the spouses and it will gradually culminate in aggressive behaviors and marital conflicts. A healthy marital relationship, where there is an ideal sexual function between the partners, can significantly reduce potential marital conflicts and in turn play a pivotal role in familial sustainability.ConclusionThere is a statistically significant correlation between sexual function and satisfaction in spouses and marital conflicts. Women who have high levels of sexual function and satisfaction will experience less sexual conflicts.
