چکیده
Background: One of the problems of larve therapy clinics is timely access to Lucilia sericata larvae. These larvae belong to the Calliphoridae family that feeds on dead tissue. These larvae secrete various enzymes, such as the Allantoin, which play an important role in wound healing. The L. sericata larvae secreted collagenase enzyme which can play a role to debridement of necrotic tissues. The larvae activity causes to stop the bacterial colonization by producing ammonia and also increasing PH in injured tissues. Furthermore, the larvae secrete Interleuchina-6 like that it cause proliferation of fibroblasts in wound. Objectives: The aim of this study was to propose a new method for preserving the quality and survival of larvae of 1 and 2 age.Materials and Methods: In this study 100 larvae of age 1 & 2 L. sericata were selected from the Insectarium of Department of Medical Entomology and Vector control of School of Health (Shiraz University of medical sciences) and were preserved at 4ºC on mushroom. Results: 100% of the larvae were survived after 14 days. In addition their age were remained in the same stage. After 14 days the mortality was seen in the larvae. Conclusion: New methods to maintain larvae in clinics for long term is one of the important issues in the development of maggotherapy for facilitate and timely available of the larvae in the larve therapy clinic. This method greatly helps to physicians for treatment the chronic wounds in the clinic in a timely manner.کلیدواژه ها
