Infection of Labeling Table in Bushehr Transfusion Organization during 1395-1397

Background and objectives: Providing Healthy bloodis the primary focus of transfusion organization and injections of healthy blood is one of the most important treatments in medical centers. The bacterial contamination and infection of laboratory surface and devices can threaten blood recipients as a complication. The purpose of this study was investigating the infection of the labeling table in Bushehr transfusion organization during 1395-1397. Materials and Methods: This descriptive analytical study was done in 324 microbial sampling from labeling table during last three years (one test per month and 9 sampling points per every test). Data were collected from quality control archives. SPSS v.16 software was utilized for data analysis. Results: The disinfectants used for the labeling table are 70% ethanol and water and soap solution that was cleaned at the first and last working time with water and soap solution. It was disinfected with 70% ethanol solution while contaminated with processed products. The culture tests were negative for 3 consecutive years. There was a significant correlation between antiseptic and microbial culture. Conclusion: This study showed that the disinfectants and infection control of labeling table were appropriate. Monthly monitoring seems to be important for the prevention of infection.
