چکیده مقاله:

Background: Thimerosal is one of the most important and inexpensive preservatives in many pharmaceutical and sanitary products. There is very contradictory information about the effect of this substance on the development and development of the fetus. This study was designed to determine the effect of thimerosal on birth on tissues such as cerebellum that play an important role in movement and balance and sensory integration and are damaged in the autistic spectrum. Material and methods: In this experimental study, 40 newborns of Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups of 10, including 1-control male 2-control group-3, experimental group 1 and 4-experimental group. Experimental groups 1 and 2 received intramuscular injection of thimerosal at a dose of 300 μg / kg on days 7, 9, 11, 15 after birth. Then Rotarod and Electromyography were tested. Results: Male and female rats receiving thimerosal showed signs of impaired motor activity, as the results of histological studies showed that the number of purkinje cells significantly decreased in the treated group with thimerosal in both sexes. The results of this study suggest that the exposure to thimerosal in vaccines during developmental period causes motor disorders and neuromuscular disability during postpartum period.
