چکیده

Background:A world fit for all has been known as a terminology for defining the impact of children’s right provision into the city management. Having in mind that 20% of the world population today below the age of 18, it will be important to develop a city which is friendlier to children. In this study we review a bulk of pediatrics trauma cases referred to our department to figure out common mechanisms of environmental trauma and to assess if they are preventable. Methods:To have an estimation on the number of referred trauma cases we assessed the number of pre-school kids (0-7 year old) patients who were admitted in Akbar and Dr. Sheikh children hospitals, Taleghani & Emdadi trauma center, Burn injury department and poisoning department of Imam Reza Hospital. We just recorded Age, sex and the primary diagnosis. Results:Common causes of pediatric trauma in preschool age children were falls, Motor vehicle accidents, burn, foreign body aspiration, poisoning and caustics. We tried to propose strategies to prevent these traumatic injuries. We suggest some strategies to make our environment safer for children and decrease traumatic injuries. Conclusion:To implement these strategies we (pediatric surgeons) have to report these hazardous factors to media and organizations such as hazards in children play grounds, streets, toys like those with disc batteries, packing of caustic materials and medications and etc.
