A study on the Pathologic Reports of Young Adults of Age between 20 and 40 Years Referred to Forensic Pathology Laboratory of Kermanshah in 1397

Young people are valuable assets in any country that investigation of their life-threatening factors can be very useful to health care providers. In 1397, about 29.9 % of referral cases to the pathology lab of legal medicine center of Kermanshah were young adult of age between 20 to 40 years. The study of pathologic reports of them can provide an overview of health problems in young adults for researchers.Method: The pathologic reports of 20 to 40 years-old adults referred to forensic pathology laboratory of Kermanshah were collected and some data such as age, gender and type of pathologic findings of several organs such as brain, lung, liver, heart, pharynx and larynx were extracted and analyzed by the SPSS software.Results: Among the 418 cases referred to forensic pathology laboratory, 125 cases were adults of age between 20 to 40 years. About 84.8 % and 15.2 % of them were male and female, respectively. The pathologic results indicated that about 6.4 % of the adults had the signs of brain bleeding. The rate of edema, pneumonia, lung bleeding, bronchitis, and emphysema were 60 %, 12 %, 12.8 %, 2.4 %, and 2.4 %, respectively. The signs of steatosis, hepatitis, necrosis and cirrhosis were observed in 8 %, 7.2 %, 4.8 % and 2.4 % of cases, respectively. In 5.6 % of cases, the signs of acute tubular necrosis was found. The rate of atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction and fibrosis were 32.8 %, 10.4 % and 4 %, respectively. In 3.2 % of cases the bleeding in pharynx and larynx was observed and 2 cases of stomach bleeding and colon cancer were also reported.Conclusion: Heart and pulmonary problems are the major pathological manifestations observed in dead young adults that should be given more attention by health researchers.
