Numerical study of mixed convection coupled with radiation through porous media of non-Newtonian nanofluid

A computational work has been proposed for the first time on mixed convection coupled with radiation in a porous square enclosure filled with non-Newtonian fluid with corner heater. The heaters are isothermal and temperature of one side of enclosure is lower than the heater while remaining walls are adiabatic and top wall is driven. Enclosure is filled with aqueous solution of Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) based Al2O3 nanofluid obeying Power law rheological model. The governing equations have been solved by the standard finite-volume method and SIMPLE algorithm. Rosseland model is applied for radiation effect. In the present work Grashof number is fixed at 104; Darcy number is 10-2, 10-3, 10-4; Radiation parameter is 1, 5, 10; Richardson number is 100, 1, 0.01; volume fraction is 0, 0.02, 0.04 and %wt. of CMC solution is 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. Numerical result are presented for these value via mean Nsselt number. It is found that heat transfer rate is an increasing function of %wt. of CMC and Radiation parameter and a decreasing function of Darcy number. Beside, heat transfer rate increases with decreasing Richardson number.
