چکیده مقاله:

Boilers are considered as one of the main energy consumers in buildings and, therefore, increasing their efficiency and improving their performance are effective techniques to eliminate the problems regarding energy consumption in buildings and to reduce waste of energy. Taking the limited fossil fuel resources and the growing costs of energy carriers in the world into account, developers of these devices have constantly attempted to improve the efficiency and utilization of proper controlling devices. The need for the industry to research, design, and develop highly-efficient boilers is the significance of the present study. The present study aims at increasing the efficiency of heat recovery of the steam energy existing in flue gases. The exchanger used for heat recovery is the shell and corrugated tube exchanger and the heat recovery has been examined and analyzed by the numerical method using computational fluid dynamics. The analysis is conducted in two sections. At the first section, the effect of the arrangement of tubes in the shell and at the second section, the effect of the number of the tube in the same shell on the thermal performance of the considered condensing boiler have been investigated numerically. Generally, five various models have been studied (based on different geometrical parameters) here. The results show that in the case that the tubes are placed with irregular position (the angle between the tubes is equals to 30º), more heat transfers between the gas (with phase change in the shell) and the water in the tubes. Based on the obtained results in the second section, the model with the high number of tubes and the lower diameter of the tube has better thermal behavior.
