The effect of different dispersing agents on the performance of 2-pack polyurethane clear coats containing nano-silica

The present study entails the use of three dispersing agents having different combined molecular weight/polarity status, in order to disperse nano silica in an acrylic polyol matrix. The performances of such dispersions as well as the final coatings were examined by various analytical techniques. In the fluid state the rheological and the optical properties were analysed in terms of viscosity and turbidity measurements. These parameters versus time can give indication of shelf life.
