چکیده مقاله:

This study attempts to determine how using short term psychotherapy based on teaching stress management impacts the levels of anger/emotional control among breast cancer patients who sought treatment at Sabzevar’s educational-medical center during 2018. This study was implemented through a pretest-posttest design with a control group. 20 samples were randomly selected and divided into a test group and a control group. The test group underwent three one-hour group sessions and three one-hour individual sessions each week. The Spielberger (1999) anger questionnaire (Staxi-2) and the Williams and Chambless (1997) (ACS) emotional control questionnaires were used in this study to determine the effectiveness of stress management. After considering the gathered data and analyzing them through multi-variable covariance method, a meaningful difference was detected between the average grades of the two groups. The average grade of the test group in respect of anger status, trait anger and the general index of anger expression was meaningfully reduced; and their grade regarding anger expression control, anger internalization control and emotional control was meaningfully increased. The results of this study showed that short term psychotherapy based on teaching stress management has had a meaningful impact on the levels of anger control and emotional control among these patients.
