چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objectives: Currently, hemorrhoid is a very common disease. With the review of Iranian traditional medicine textbooks, it was found that Itrifal-e moql is one of the most widely used drugs in hemorrhoids. According to importance of quality control of the herbal preparations, in this research, HPTLC fingerprinting of the Itrifal-e moql tablet has been performed. Methods: The extracts of the tablets and each of its ingredients including Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica, Phyllantus emblica, Commiphora mukul and Allium ampeloprasum were prepared by ethyl acetate and maceration method. Silica gel plates and toluene: ethyl acetate: formic acid 70:15:15 were used as stationary and mobile phases, respectively. The volume of spots was 40 µl. Spotting was performed by Linomat 5 instrument. Natural product was used as reagent. The plate was investigated under 366 nm. Results: The HPTLC study of the product revealed the presence of various phenolic compounds. The marker spots for T. chebula, A. ampeloprasum/C. mukul mixture, P. emblica were found at Rf 0.14 (yellow double bonds), 0.37-0.47 (green), 0.82 (blue), respectively. No difference was seen between T. chebula and T. bellerica. Conclusion: This technique could be used as a useful method for quality control of Itrifal-e moql tablets in herbal market.
