Microfluidic bioreactors are essential elements of advanced microsystems for tissue engineering and drug testing. They are designed to provide a physiologically-relevant cellular microenvironment for cell culture and tissue growth in vitro. To this end, working conditions of the bioreactors such as flow rate, pH, oxygen level, along with cellular matrix stiffness should be considered precisely to create proper cellular microenvironment for reliable cellular response to various stimuli of interest. Having a well-designed microfluidic bioreactor, various studies such as cell-drug response at various doses, mechanobiology studies can be investigated. In this presentation, initially, bioreactors and their important design/working parameters are explained for operation in continual perfusion mode. Then, few examples of my studies employed bioreactors for drug testing are presented and discussed
