چکیده مقاله:

The histological characteristics of omentum make this to a special and unique tissue for engineering. High flexibility, extensive cell proliferation, fast adhesion, quick fibrous tissue creating and high repairing potential of greater omentum is useful for reconstructive surgery. Also it’s effective for filling the infected site like osteomyelitis cases and repair of hard and soft tissue injuries. Mentioned characters are specifications for ideal tissues that could use for tissue engineering. Also it has been used for bone tissue engineering with periosteal-free graft concurrent with pedicle omental graft. In addition, it has been used for healing and fulfilling of bone defects. Also omentum used as scaffold concurrent with adipose-derived adult stem cells (ASCs) in long bone defect healing in dog model. In other study omentum cells (OCs) are shown to help wound healing, functional study released that OCs help to revascularization and repair corneal wounds after alkali injury by subconjuctival injection of activatedomentum cells. Another study revealed, beneficial effects of omental adipose-derived nucleated cell (OADNCs) fraction on peripheral nerve healing like sciatic nervewas cured remarkably. Items that have been mentioned above are significant progress in tissue engineering with omentum and omental cells. Therefore, this review provides the newest progress on omental and adipose-derived stem cells usages on tissue engineering and medicine.
