چکیده

Background: Nanosized particles exhibit incomparable and interesting physical, chemical and biological properties according to their large surface to volume ratio[1]. The study of nanoparticles interaction with microorganisms is high importance to consider them for various biomedical applications like infections caused by drug-resistant microorganisms. According to a report published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, antibiotic resistant bacteria cause millions of infections and thousands of deaths every year in the world [2]. Additionally reducing the number of effective antibiotics has led to increased threatening condition that required to alternative compounds. Many efforts have been made to discover new antimicrobial agents . The use of nanoparticles as antibacterial agents is one of the successful methods, which has been widely considered in various industries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial potential of Cellulose-Graphene nanocomposite against a clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas aeruginosa has become an important cause of gram-negative infection, especially in patients with compromised host defense mechanisms. Method: The Well agar diffusion and Agar dilution methods were used for determination of inhibition zoom (IZ) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) during preliminary evaluation of antimicrobial activity. All experiments were performed in triplicates. Results and Discution: The result show that zoon inhibition of Cellulose-Graphene nanocomposite was 14± 0.56 mm. Due to the low cost of this nanocomposite and its high antimicrobial nature, especially against gram-negative bacteria, it can be argued that this nanocomposite can be a viable option for producing antibacterial products, especially in hospital, which are in direct contact with various infectious agents. Conclusions: Cellulose-Graphene nanocomposit exhibited promising antibacterial activity against a clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
