Effects of cognitive- behavior interventions on pain relief in burn patients in last decade: A systematic review

Background: Non-pharmacological interventions use as adjunct of pharmacological methods in pain relief of burn patients. The aim of this study is to assess the effects of non-pharmacological interventions on pain relief in burn patients in last decade.Methods: This study is a systematic review. For assessing the studies, Persian databases (SID, Magiran, Irandoc, google scholar) with dard va sookhtegi keywords in the past 10 years were searched. Also, English databases (Pubmed, Science direct, ProQuest, google scholar, Scopus) with pain AND burn* AND one of the cognitive- behavior interventions were searched. Finally 12 article were selected.Results: Results indicated that the most of cognitive- behavior interventions decrease the pain of burn patients. Pain relief during treatment procedures were not significant and patients experienced moderate to severe pain after procedures; So, for implementing this interventions in clinical settings, expenditure, duration of intervention and need to expertise, must be consider. Conclusion: For practical use of an intervention in clinical setting, it must be create tangible changes in patient’s health; Cognitive-behavioral interventions do not significantly relieve pain in burn patients, especially in acute pain. When a cognitive behavioral intervention been use, attention to culture and target group is necessary.
