An environmental friendly and solvent-free synthetic route for malonic acid catalyzed one-pot multi-compoent synthesis of biologically active12-ary1-terahydrobenzo α xanthene-11-one derivatives has developed. The non-toxic, environmentally benign nature and low-cost catalyst, eco-friendly, easily separated and good to high yields is an option for the clean and simple synthesis of these rings.
