Liquid hydrogen will likely play a major role in the future of energy and will be necessary for many applications. Liquid hydrogen demand has experienced increase in the past years. Due to the importance of liquid hydrogen and wide range of applications and since the efficiency of current liquefaction plants is not desirable many studies is dedicated to optimization and simulation of liquefaction processes by Aspen HYSYS and similar programs. The accuracy of models crucially depends on the fluid package (EOS). Three common EOS implemented in Aspen HYSYS; PR, MBWR and BWRS which had been utilized in many studies are investigated to find their accuracy and range of application. MBWR is the best choice for models and simulations which are done by Aspen HYSYS as it could predict density, enthalpy and entropy through the whole range of temperature and pressure normally encountered in liquefaction processes. PR and BWRS could yields nearly good results in higher temperature. These EOSs could not be well performed for liquefaction processes, although they will lead to desirable results for processes with higher temperature range.
