چکیده مقاله:

In this research, epoxy nanocomposites were prepared using different loadings (0.5, 1, 1.5 wt.%) of nanoclay. The fabricated nanocomposites were evaluated by salt spray and UV–visible absorbance spectra. Anti-corrosive properties of nanocomposites was investigated on unmodified steel and modified steel by using salt spray test. The modification of substrate was done by using conversion coating based on cerium. The salt spray results revealed that the pretreated coating with 1.5 wt.% nanoclay has a better anticorrosive performance after 1 week immersion in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Results of UV–visible absorbance spectra showed presence of clay particles, reduces the transmission of ultraviolet light and damages is reduced. The absorbance of the nanocomposite (containing 1.5 wt.% nanoclay) was the highest, with 40% absorbance in 296nm. For surface characterization of applied conversion coating, contact angle measurement was done. It is concluded that by applying a conversion coating on the steel surface, the contact angle is reduced about 200.
