چکیده
Aim and background: Among many pharmacuticals, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been recently found in aquatic matrices because of continuous input and incomplete removal of water and sewage treatment plants. The aim of this study is preparation of Ti/PbO2 to remove ibuprofen from aqueous solutions and optimization by response surface methodology (RSM).Materials and method: In this study, the Ti/PbO2 electrode was synthesized by electrodeposition method. RSM based on the central composite design (CCD) was applied to determine the number of samples, designing of tests and analysis. Four variables; pH, time, concentration and current density were investigated in anodic oxidation process. Finally, energy consumption and kinetics in anodic oxidation process was employed. Results: XRD analyze showed that the Ti/PbO2 electrode were successfully synthesized and was used in the process of anodic oxidation. Ti/PbO2 electrode application in AO for degrading ibuprofen, exhibited high efficiency in acidic and alkaline pH. Based on the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the coefficient of determination (R2) was calculated and found to be above 99.4% for all the responses. After 60 min at a current density of 15 mA/cm2 and pHs 3 and 11 energy consumption of AO was calculated 145.56 and 272.79 kWh/kgCOD, respectively. The kinetics analysis showed that the removal of IBP followed pseudo first-order reaction.Cnclusion: The final models of IBP removal were validated and the predicted R2 for all response was more than 98%. Lack of fit test for all of the models were non-significant with a 0.05< Pvalues, which confirmed the fit of the models. The results of the present study demonstrated that AO process in a wide range of pH is effective process. This results highlighted AO is a promising method for the removal of NSAIDs from aqueous solutions.
