چکیده

Background: Cutaneous Traumatic Wounds (CTW) is one of the most common public health problems in the world. Lacerations, Abrasion, Ulceration, Burn and other wounds cause severe pain and even unwanted complications. Wound healing requires a coordinated interplay among cells, growth factors, and extracellular matrix proteins. Recent research advances have shown the great potential of cell-based therapies in improving the pace and quality of wound healing and skin regeneration. Objectives: The current article summarizes recent research on various types of cell-based strategies applied to improve wound healing. Methodology: We searched suitable keywords in common medical databases. English articles which published from 2000 extracted and evaluated. Results: Embryonic and adult stem cells have a prolonged self-renewal capacity with the ability to differentiate into various tissue types. A variety of sources, such as bone marrow, peripheral blood, umbilical cord blood, adipose tissue, skin and hair follicles, have been utilized to isolate stem cells to accelerate the healing response of acute and chronic wounds. Also marrow and adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal cells, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction cells, and platelets have been used for wound healing in clinical practice. Conclusion: Compared with a variety of conventional methods, the cell therapy technique is simple, less time-consuming, and reduces the surgical burden for patients in the repair of acute and chronic wounds. Although there are a lot of problems need to be resolved.
