چکیده مقاله:

Transplantation of ovarian tissue is emerging as a powerful approach for preserving fertility for patients that are losing ovarian function. In this study, fibrin was used as a scaffold and L-carnitine (LC) as an antioxidant to improve follicular reserve following autotransplantation of mouse ovary. Mature NMRI mice were divided in six groups: control (non-grfted), Transplantation (autograft), LC (autograft+ intraperitoneal administration of LC), fibrin (autograft+fibrin), saline group (autograft+ saline), LC + fibrin (autograft+ LC+ fibrin). Bilateral ovariectomy was performed and left ovaries autotransplanted in back muscle. 3 weeks later, ovarian grafts were recovered and follicular preservation and apoptosis incidence were assessed histologically and immunohistochemically. Our results indicated that the number of primary follicles in LC + fibrin group was significantly higher than other transplanted groups. But the total numbers of follicles and apoptotic index were approximately similar between all transplanted groups. Also, total follicles in all transplanted groups were significantly lower than control group (P <0.05). Fibrin supported integration of the transplant with the host and it seems that usage of LC in combination with a scaffold could improve early stages of folliculogenesis in autotransplantated ovaries. Further studies are needed in this area.
