One of the important challenges in design, vulnerability and retrofit studies is to determine suitable set of ground motion time histories. As a well-known solution, spectral scaling is recommended in various design codes. However, the traditional method addresses uniform scaling coefficients which may lead to non-optimal resulting spectrum with sufficient difference about the target standard. The present work, utilizes meta-heuristic algorithms to find optimal scaling coefficients for this problem. Examples are treated and discussed showing the results well stand better and closer than the uniform scaled spectrum with respect to the target standard.
