چکیده مقاله:
Backhroundsplantar fasciitis is the most common treatable foot disorder, which responsible for the %15of the foot abnormalities. As the obesity is usually considered as a contributing factor forthe plantar fasciitis, lipid profile changes may be a risk factor for plantar fasciitis. The aim ofthis study was to determine lipid profile changes in patients with plantar fasciitis in comparewith control group.Methodswe recruited 78 plantar fasciitis patients and 117 healthy controls into this cross-sectionalstudy. All patients were aged between 18 to 60 years old. The inclusion criteria were asfollows: history of characteristic heel pain and less than 3 month of pain duration. Patientswere asked to complete the written informed consent. Demographic data, height, weightand BMI from all participants were recorded. Then the laboratory findings evaluated, whichwere included: cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglyceride (TG) and FBS. Finally, the ManchesterOxford Foot and Ankle (MOXF) questionnaire completed for all patients.ResultsTG, cholesterol and LDL level were significantly higher in patients compare to healthy controls. However, HDL and FBS were not significantly different between the two groups. The relation between gender and lipid profile were also investigated and we found nosignificant relation between these two variables. Our data showed that there is a significantcorrelation between duration of the disease and TG level (p=0.0001, r=0.72).ConclusionsResults of this study showed that the LDL, TG and cholesterol level was significantly higherin plantar fasciitis patients compare to control group.
