چکیده مقاله:

Hypermobile lateral meniscus is a relatively uncommon condition. It is explained byan excessive mobility of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus. Patients typicallypresent with lateral knee pain and/or locking sensation mostly with kneeling orsquatting in the absence of a discrete meniscal tear and discoid morphology. It is thought that disruption of the popliteomeniscal fascicles leads to hypermobilityof the lateral meniscus. In these patients, the posterior portion of the lateral meniscusshows forward abnormal translation with knee flexion and backward translation withknee extension. We refer to this phenomenon as paradoxical motion. It has been assumed that the disruption of the fascicles between the popliteus tendon and the lateral meniscus would result in Hypermobile lateral meniscus.Surgical treatment of hypermobile lateral meniscus should only be offered to thosesymptomatic patients who failed to improve with conservative treatment. Surgicaloptions include meniscal fixation using inside-out or all-inside suturing devices, arthroscopic thermal shrinkage, or partial meniscectomy
