چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: 316L Stainless Steel has been selected as asubstrate with excellent corrosion resistivity, oxidation resistance, andhigh deflection strength. However, when implanted in the body, variousions such as nickel, chromium, and iron may release from it in tissue thatcauses sensitization and tissue stimulation. Implants need antibacterialproperties, but 316L does not have these properties. To overcomethis challenge, polymeric, ceramic or composite coatings have been developed. Methods: Baghdadite has been considered as a bioactive bioceramicwith excellent biocompatibility, good mechanical properties, andthe ability to stimulate bone growth. In another word, chitosan is abiopolymer with antibacterial activity, excellent biocompatibility, andgood biodegradability. Results: Results showed that incorporation of Baghdadite significantlyimprove the biological properties of the composite coating and madethem promising for implant materials. Conclusion: The purpose of this study was to fabricate chitosan/Baghdaditenanocomposite coating on 316L stainless steel using electrophoretictechnique and study the role of Baghdadite on the improvement ofbioactivity and biocompatibility of implantation materials used in thebody.
