چکیده
Background and Aim: Burn injuries are the most traumatic injuriesaffecting every organ system and leading to significant morbidity andmortality. Slow wound healing, infection, pain, and hypertrophic scarringcontinue to remain a major challenge in burn research and management. This study aims to provide an option to an emergency burn patientmanagement that have required an integrated approach. We performeda pilot evaluation of the effectiveness of platelet gel from cord blood(CBPG) as an allogeneic source of different growth factors which playimportant role in the treatment of second-degree burn wound. Methods: Cord blood samples are collected in sterile conditions. Thesesamples were transferred to GMP grade clean room for processing. All CB samples were negative for viral and bacterial infection. Then, bags contain CB were centrifuged and two parts (RBC and PRP) wereseparated. Gelation was done under sterile condition by adding thrombinwithin 20-30 minutes. Prepared gel changed twice per week, time andsize of wounds were measured. Results: The clinical outcomes of this small group of patients were shownthis trial have high efficiency and effectiveness in comparison with thecurrent standard of care for these patients. Time of healing and sizeof wounds decrease significantly. CBPG releases a number of growthfactors such as PDGF, TGF-β1 and -β2, IGF, EGF, FGF and EGF which can affect wound healing. Conclusion: In conclusion, this pilot study reveals that CPBG is apromising and safe option for the treatment of burn wounds but needfor larger studies.کلیدواژه ها
