Background and Aim: The food pattern assessment is an acceptable tool for evaluation of nutritional status. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the food pattern of municipal scavengers in Zahedan, south-east of IranMethods: : A total of 300 subjects aged 19 -62 years were selected. The demographic data including age, education levels, work experience were collected .Dietary intakes were recorded by a valid food frequency questionnaire (FFQ).Results: The findings showed that the mean intake of milk and dairy products was 3.4 units, bread and cereals group was 9.9 units , which were within the range of the recommendations of the food pyramid for adults [ (2-3 units) and (6-11 units), respectively ] . The mean intake of egg and meats group (4.5 units) were slightly higher than the recommended levels of pyramid (2-3 units), but the consumption of fruits and vegetables (2.6 units) was lower than the suggested values of food pyramid (5-9 units). Conclusion: The inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables in these individuals can put them at risk of vitamins and minerals deficiency, which, due to the difficulty of working conditions in scavengers, is required to pay more attention to their food pattern
