چکیده
Background and Aim: Associated of relative handgrip strength (RHGS) with anthropometric measurement and blood biomarkers has not been assessed. This study aimed to investigate the association of RHGS with cardiovascular diseases risk factor in the large sample cohort study. Methods: The study was based on a cross-sectional analysis of 961 participants aged 35-65 years, from Ravansar Noncommunicable Disease (RaNCD) cohort study. RHGS, calculated as maximal absolute handgrip strength from both hands divided by BMI, was measured. The body composition was measured using Inbody 770. 10 ml fasting blood sample was obtained from participants to assess the lipid profiles. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to assess the association of RHGS with the cardiovascular disease risk factors. Results: Increasing one unit of RHGS, total cholesterol [regression coefficient -15.75 (-28.66,-2.84)], Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol [-10.83 (-14.64,-7.02)] and triglycerides [-10.60 (-23.69,2.48)] were decreased (P< 0.05). The higher RHGS was significantly associated with higher Soft Lean Mass, Skeletal Muscle Mass, Fat Free Mass, and lower Percent Body Fat, Body Fat Mass, Waist Circumference, Hip Circumference, and Waist-to-Hip Ratio in participants (p< 0.05). Multivariable adjustments, including age, sex, smoking, drinking alcohol and physical activity did not change these associations. Conclusion: Results suggest that increased RHGS may be associated with a better profile of cardiovascular disease risk factors in adults. RHGS, which adjusts for the confounding factors such as BMI may be a useful clinical measure than muscle strength.کلیدواژه ها
