چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Diet is an important contributor of serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D and vitamin B12 concentration. Aim of this study was weather any specific dietary pattern among diabetic patients were associated with serum 25(OH)D and B12 concentrationMethods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the dietary patterns and their association with vitamins D and B12 among type 2 diabetes mellitus subjects. Four hundred subjects aged 40 to 60 years with type 2 diabetes mellitus were selected for this study. dietary pattern and level of vitamins D and B12 were measured for each patient. Moreover, for each subject, a physical activity level in weekly metabolic equivalent hours, weight status and sociodemographic factors were determinedResults: Three factors (dietary patterns) were identified using factor analysis. Factor 1 was labeled as vegetables and poultry dietary pattern, Factor 2 and Factor 3 were labeled as western and mixed dietary pattern, respectively. Using the multivariate regression model, there was no significant relationship between serum 25(OH)D concentrations and quintiles of mixed and western dietary patterns scores in all subjects. Patients with higher adherence to vegetable and poultry pattern showed a significant positive relation with serum 25(OH)D (β = 59.1, P = 0.017). positive relation was observed between B12 and western dietary pattern scores (β = 82.1, P = 0.015)Conclusion: As a conclusion, these findings showed that serum 25(OH)D and B12 were positively associated with dietary pattern of diabetic patients. It is important to investigate advantage and disadvantage of these pattern for diabetic patients.
