خلاصه مقاله:
Background and Aim: Progress in the past decade in analytical methods caused in increasing awareness about the role of elements in the body. The micronutrient deficiency is a global health problem which is common in developing countries. Zinc as a micronutrient essential, have an important role in children s growth. The aim of this study was assessment the importance of zinc in infants and pregnant mothers and its role in the toll induction and remove of tolls.Methods: This study was a systematic review using integrated and comprehensive review of articles in databases such as Pubmed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Medlin. The research was based keywords such as zinc, nutrition supplement, and infant growth.Results: This study showed that zinc deficiency in mothers can cause spontaneous abortion, congenital malformations, low birth weight, preterm and post-term delivery, premature rupture of membranes, in the infants has effect on growth velocity, growth failure, synthesis in bone cells, inflammatory bowel disease, The breastfeeding, DNA&RNA synthesis, the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and hormone such as osteocalcin, testosterone, thyroid hormones and insulin, vitamin D effects, infant weight gain, immune function, nervous system function, reduced severity and duration of diarrhea, treatment of shigellosis, regrowth of the thymus, shorter recovery period from diarrhea or malnutrition, reductions respiratory morbidity and cough, infection rates, abnormal cerebellar function.Conclusion: This study showed that zinc has a considerable impact on pregnant mothers, infants in pregnant period, and infancy. So, it should be pay more attention in zinc supply for mothers and infants, especially in the deprived area.
