خلاصه مقاله:
Objectives: Comparing the static balance in active (Based- walk and morning exercise) and inactive elderly men and determination the relationship between balance and gait velocity in active elderly men.Materials & Methods: 55 active elderly men and 49 inactive elderly men participated in this cross sectional-comparative study. Static balance was measured by stork stand test with opened and closed eye. Gait velocity (time) in active elderly men was measured using Rockport walk test. Independent T-test was used to compare balance with opened and closed eye between two groups. To examine correlation between static balance with age and gait velocity, Pearson correlation coefficient was used. SPSS software version….. was used Results: The results showed that balance score with opened and closed eye were significantly higher in active elderly subjects compared to that in inactive elderly subjects. However, no statistically significant relationship was found between gait velocity and balance with opened and closed eye in active elderly subjects. A significant negative correlation was found between static balance and age so that static balance decreased significantly with age. Conclusion: Active (walking and Morning sports-based) elderly men have better static balance than inactive elderly men, as a result of walking training program. Walking with the overload on information transfer through improving the somatosensory systems, may improve the balance
