Study on the pattern of the performance of pap smear test in the personnel of the 8th area of the ministry of education in tehran

چکیده مقاله:

Aims: Cervical cancer is an illness which for its diagnosis Pap smear is used; it’s a very simple inexpensive and noninvasive test which can lead to early detection of thiscancer. We investigated the pattern of the performing the test. Methods: A Cross-Sectional study was conducted on 2100accidentally chosen women employees of the 15th region of the education ministry of Tehran. The data was gathered up by questionnaire and for the data analysis chic-square test, T test and fisher were used. Results:The average age was 4/7 ±7/40. 35% had a bachelor’s degree, 27.2% collage, 2.1% master, 11.1% under diplomas and 24.6 were diplomas . 26.9% claimed they had never done it and women who had done this test stated the following about the frequency of the performance: 54.7 % once, 52% twice, 1.1% every 6 months and 9.1% every year. Women whohadn’t done the test stated these reasons, 23.7% fear, 42.4% unawareness 31.9% lack of time. Meaningful statistical relationship was found between the level of education and marriage state (p<0.001). there wasn’t any connection between the average age of the women who had and hadn’t done the test. (p<0.05) Conclusion:considerable percentage had done it at least once. Despite of the increase in the in the educational level people who hadn’t done the test were too many, even in the onesthat had done the repeat was low.
